The course will provide confidence in best practices for using Power BI to solve solutions to typical business scenarios.
Overview
The first day of the course will cover connecting and transforming data from a variety of data sources, defining business rules and KPIs. It also will cover Power BI report layouts and structure the agile process to creating Power BI data visualizations. It will help attendees to understand the art behind visualizations, the implications behind choosing the right charts, the impact of color, shape, and size, and finally the use of Power BI custom visuals.
The second day of the course will cover using Power BI Desktop to import and shape data from a variety of sources. It will also walk through Power BI capabilities you can use to enhance the data model for your business users. This course also covers key aspects of how to create a great data model to meet your business needs, various features in Power BI used to enhance data models so you can build great reports, and an introduction to DAX to create calculations.

He is a certified Microsoft Certified Trainer, Microsoft Certified Solution Associate, Certified Data Vault 2 Practitioner and Certified Prince 2 Foundation. Having used data-driven & AI ecosystems to solve the repetitive and mundane, he leads Innovation and Learning for Cloudstreet Consulting.

The audience for this course are data professionals and business intelligence professionals who want to learn how to accurately perform data analysis using Power BI.
This course is also targeted toward those individuals who develop reports that visualise data from the data platform technologies that exist both in the cloud and on-premises.
Prerequisites
Successful Data Analysts start this role with experience of working with data in the cloud.
Specifically:

- Knowledge of working with relational data in the cloud.
- Knowledge of working with non-relational data in the cloud.
- Knowledge of data analysis and visualization concepts.

You will connect real public Crocodile Captures data in the Excel file, select the tables you want to use, and import them for transformation. Public and organisational datasets will often require understanding and shaping in order to make for interesting and useful analytics.
Power Query
Skills in Power Query are essential in being able to take charge of the clean-up and perhaps re-organisation of your input datasets. While you wait for the data owner to clean-up the data or provide it in another format, Power Query gives you the power to take this into your own hands and you will be surprised what you can do.
